Ancaster Little Gems celebrates 20 years
Evan and Eric are ready for next week's anniversary open house at Ancaster Little Gems Children's Centre. On Sunday, Sept. 7, from 1-4 p.m. the centre will formally celebrate its 20th anniversary with games, food and fun activities. All teachers, parents and graduates, past and present, are invited to attend.

On patrol in Afghanistan
Corporal Cam Smithers, on patrol in Kandahar City, Afghanistan, is among a group of 300 Canadian soldiers that make up Canada's Provincial Reconstruction Team based at Camp Nathan Smith. He deployed to Afghanistan in February and is due to return to Canada sometime in the fall. A graduate of Highland Secondary School and an alumnus of the Dundas Blues Junior C hockey team, Smithers joined the army in 2001 and was the medic for the 3rd Battalion Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry Paratrooper Company. While in Afghanistan, Smithers is a combat medic with the forward echelon of the Provincial Reconstruction Team's Force Protection Company.
