The Senior Stars came out to shine at The Meadowlands Retirement Residence.
Burlington resident Ruth Urbasik was named the winner of the second annual Senior Star Competition, held to mark Chartwell Senior Housing's Appreciation of Seniors event. She performed a song, titled Reciprocity and wowed the panel of celebrity judges that included Hamil-ton Mayor Fred Eisenberger.
As the regional finalist for Ancaster, Ms. Urbasik now has a chance to advance to the national finals later this year. Judges will select 10 finalists to compete at the national event for a chance to win a $5,000 grand prize.
Ancaster resident Bob Stefani took second place and Ervin Richard finished third.
Donna Bingham, The Meadowlands marketing manager, said the second annual event was truly a memorable affair.
"It's really starting to grow," she said.
The Meadow-lands was one of four Hamilton-area Chartwell homes that hosted a Senior Star event last month.
