Spokesperson Tom Creech declined to say how many offers the Crown corporation has received for the building since it was first put on the market in mid-August.
The former post office, at 385 Wilson St. E., sits in a prime commercial location of the Ancaster village core.
The building, on a 20,000 square-foot lot, is listed at a price of $900,000.
The property was assessed for tax purposes at $434,500 for 2009, according to the city’s online database.
While he confirmed the corporation has received offers for the property, Mr. Creech would not elaborate.
“Our position is this is a matter between Canada Post and its realtor,” said Mr. Creech. “Until an offer is absolutely signed we are bound by confidentiality agreements.”
The Ancaster site is zoned as Village Area, which permits commercial development with 50 per cent lot coverage and 10. 5 metre building height.
Canada Post declared post office buildings in Ancaster and Dundas surplus following the opening of its new letter carrier depot in the Ancaster Business Park.
Mr. Creech said a sale could be finalized within the next month.
