Last year, thanks to the support received from donors, Hamilton CAS was able to make the holiday season special for 295 families by providing food, toys, clothing and gift cards.
“By sponsoring a family you are helping to bring joy and hope back into the holiday season for those families who are struggling to get by,” said Dominic Verticchio, executive director at Hamilton CAS.
“This year has been particularly tough for many with the economic downturn and rising unemployment rates. The support from the community in past years has always been overwhelming and we can’t thank all of the individuals and businesses enough for their generous contributions to our families in need.”
More than 230 referrals have already been made by child protection workers to the Family Sponsorship Program and families will continue to be referred.
Those who wish to lend assistance but are unable to take on a full family sponsorship are invited to consider providing an individual gift for a child or teen. Items may be dropped off at the Poscor Centre for Children and Families located at 26 Arrowsmith Road, near Centennial Parkway.
