Chamber announces finalists for prestigious community awards

The Ancaster division of the Hamilton Chamber of Commerce has announced the finalists for the 2007 Citizen of the Year Award and the Youth Volunteer of the Year Award.

In the running for the citizen award, sponsored by the Royal Bank, are Betty Kobayashi, Anton Plas, Karin Vogt and Barbara Waddell. Outstanding nominees for the Ancaster Old Mill youth award are Kristin Eccles, Rachel Gardner, Kate Trincsi and Justin Wan.

The names of the actual recipients will be unveiled on April 18 at the Ancaster Old Mill during a gala banquet featuring keynote speaker Glenn Stanford.

Mr. Stanford, 50, is in his second season as the Hamilton Bulldogs president and governor. The St. John's, Newfoundland, native has an extensive background in sports management, marketing and national entertainment events. A no-host reception kicks off the evening at 5:30 p.m. Dinner follows at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $65.00 plus GST or $480.00 plus GST for a table of eight.
