Most people are probably unaware that there is an application to the City of Hamilton to allow the building of storage sheds along the green belt of Cootes Drive (King Street) leading into Dundas from McMaster University
This is a main entrance to town. Do we want a strip of cement block buildings instead of the green belt we now have? It makes as much sense to allow storage buildings on Cootes Drive as it would to build storage shed on York Boulevard just north of Dundurn Castle. Most of us just assumed the land from the canal to Spencer Creek was designated parkland. We enjoy this scene drive down from McMaster into Dundas.
This area could be a world-class drive with gardens on each side. The canal is a natural beauty spot. The pathway along the creek is already there. There an abundance of wildlife in the area.
If you do not want to see this area spoiled, do all you can. Let your neighbours know about the proposed development.
Call or write to your city councillor. Call or write to the Royal Botanical Gardens and the Hamilton Conservation Authority. Put up signs. Get active to stop this development.
