St. Peter's staff enhance lives of others

Donna Cripps, St. Peter's president and CEO, recently presented staff members James Genga and Cynthia Lipinski with the John Miller Inspiration Award.

The award was created in honour of the late Mr. Miller, an Ancaster resident for over 45 years and member of St. Peter's board of directors from 1993 - 2005. As a prominent business leader and an outstanding volunteer, Mr. Miller set an example for others. His leadership and heartfelt commitment to the well-being of individuals in the community was not only evident through his service on the boards of both St. Peter's and Hamilton Health Sciences, but also by the way his compassion and spirit touched the lives of hundreds of family members, friends, patients and colleagues. He was a devoted husband, father, friend, mentor, colleague and leader.

The award recognizes two staff members - one at St. Peter's Hospital and one at St. Peter's Residence at Chedoke - who commit their time and energy to enhancing the lives of those around them.

Mr. Genga is a registered nurse and temporary case manager at St. Peter's Hospital. He has been working at the hospital since 2004 and is currently a part-time student in the BScN program.

Ms. Lipinski is a personal support worker on Aspen Terrace at St. Peter's Residence at Chedoke. She has been working at the residence since 2004.

"In October 2005, we were deeply saddened by the loss of John Miller, a long-time St. Peter's board member," said Ms. Cripps. "It was our privilege to name and present this award in his honour. I would like to thank John's family: Brooke, Bradley, Lora and Chris for their support in establishing this annual award."
