The Ancaster Avalanche Peewee AA Girls Hockey Team has had an outstanding year . The team finished in first place in both the very tough western division of the Provincial Lower Lake Female Hockey League and first overall in the entire LLFHL Peewee AA division.
The Ancaster Avalanche Peewee AA Girls Hockey Team has had an outstanding year heading into the playoffs and the provincial championships in April.
The team finished in first place in both the very tough western division of the Provincial Lower Lake Female Hockey League and first overall in the entire LLFHL Peewee AA division, earning a bye in the first round of the playoffs.
Their regular season record of 15 wins, two losses, and seven ties for 37 points put them in first place overall.
The team's overall record with exhibition games and tournaments is 33 wins, six losses and nine ties.
In their four tournaments, they have collected two gold medals and two silver medals. The Avalanche won gold in the Rochester and Guelph tournaments, and silver in the Toronto Aeros Solid Gold and the Sarnia Silverstick tournaments, losing the championship game each time to the London Devilettes.
Two tournaments
There are two tournaments left on the schedule, which include the Burlington Girls March Break Tournament and the provincial championships in Brampton.
Team members include Nicole Martin, Tessa Giftopoulos, Teresa Horner, Katie Jerome, Claire Sumner, Captain Lauren Cavarzan, Emilee Paron, assistant captain Sarah Nurse, Anita Paone, Brianna Kenelly, assistant captain Kaitlyn Wallace, assistant captain Marissa Codispodi, Taylor Accursi, Shelby Loughlin, and goaltender Alison Dungey. The coaching staff includes head coach Dino Cavarzan, also head coach of the Bishop Tonnos High School girls hockey team, assistant coaches Jamie Wallace and Pat Codispodi, manager Ken Loughlin, and trainers Diane Martin and Cathy Jerome.
