The Ancaster Titans U13 boys Rep soccer team started the 2008 season with a tremendous performance at the West Niagara Invitational Tournament.
The Titans played three very difficult games in rainy, cold, windy conditions on May 3 and managed a 1-1-1 record in round-robin play, which was enough to advance the team to the playoff round.
The Titans then prevailed over Hamilton Sparta in quarter-final play, beat the Oakville Avalanche in semi-final action and advanced to the championship game against the Toronto Eagles. The Titans came up slightly short, losing 2-1 in a hard-fought championship game with the Eagles scoring a victory on a late penalty kick.
Congratulations to the players: Neil Aird, Brendan DeJong, Arjaan DeVisser, John Fletcher, Kent Hambly, Nicholas Hinds, Trevor Jewiss, Lucas Kodarin, Alec Mannarino, Ryan Monte, Curtis Orth, Daniel Pini, Christian Rigole, Alex Rizzuti, Sebastian Rosati, Mackenzie Thompson, Ryan Van Andel and Bryan VanDasselaar.
The excellent performance bodes well for the upcoming regular season.
